Peachy Trick for Fall

Time Collage

The stillness of a summer evening, reflection. The cool colored night, remembrance. The charm of the late afternoon, peace. The intimacy of a fresh morning, individuality. A meandering stream, choice. The brilliant evening sky, gratitude. A droplet from a pine bow, giving. Cooling from shading follage, comfort. The solitude of a flowered meadow, sincerity. The flash of lightning, power. The bursting streams of a setting sun, touch. The far reaching mountains and lakes, eternal. These few and many more; Attributes and gifts from a Heavenly Father gently blended together in our lives. (All photos by -- chickenhawk.)

WHAT R U IN TA?

UINTA

Reid's peak and Bald mtn. @ Dean lk.

While hiking out of the Uinta's with my father and older brother, I was probably 8 or 9 years old, my father suddenly realized that he had left his sunglasses back at the lake. He left us standing there, I was going to say on the trail, but he rarely used a trail, ran back several hundred yards to the lake, retrieved his glasses and returned to us and finished our hike out of the Uinta mountains. I was impressed at a very young age by his knowledge of the Uinta's. Many weekends through the summer we'd either throw together a "hobo" dinner or buy a Swanson (aluminum foil) TV dinnner, grab our fishing gear and head to the Uinta's. After choosing one or several lakes we would hike in, fish for the day, and then hike out in the dark. The Uinta's are a part of me. My Father is Uinta.
If my Father had done only one thing for me in my life he has taught me to love the Uinta's. For as far back as my memory serves me I have been hiking the Uinta mountains with my Father. Those first memories would be with my older brother Jeff and my Uncle Bill and my cousin's Mark and Mike. Years to follow would be trips with my younger brother Derek and cousin Matt.

Returning to the Uinta's this past summer to Kamas Lake. Uncle Bill, my father Jerry, my son Steven and Me (Quinn). North side of Bald Mtn in the background.

Spending time at the lakes in the Uinta mountains, fishing and hiking are now strong traditions of my family. The following are a few of the lake's I've visited this year.

TWO SHOES

Late in the year of 007 I was presented a new Title. This title was received very slowly and with great reluctance, to the point and to my regret, I fear, that I made the presenter feel sad. Since that Title I have had to obtain a new wardrobe made up of baggy shirts and loose fitting pants, both of which are to be worn in plaids top and bottom. The Title has even caused me to consider bi-focals - to this I have not given in - still looking over the top or under the bottom of my currently scratched up glasses. Furthermore the Title has required me to hang out with and spend copious amounts of time with a "Grandma". Well, ok , she is the most attractive Grandma I've crossed, or even come across...but getting back to my story, and you've probably guessed it, my Title is GRANDPA. Now, let me tell you of one small but very significant other attachment that came with it, a GRANDCHILD! Now switching from this silly jungle of text let me say this. I feel that those who have held in their arms one of these precious little ones and suddenly and somewhat surprisingly felt an overwhelming and passionate love for him or her, this child that has no inkling as to who you are nor the power of the love you feel toward them, must surely know at that very moment that there is a God, even a "Heavenly Father". As I held this little granddaughter my love for her was so very intense that the spirit of the moment brought tears to my eyes. I thought how we as children of a Heavenly Father, not hardly knowing Him in some sense of the word, are as this new born child. I believe He has for us every single day of our lives that passionate, intense love! Almost as powerful was the idea and feeling of this new spirit clothed in a physical body. Rightfully enabled as an heiress to God the Father, her Heavenly Father, the Father of her spirit, to become like Him. In the circle of life. One Eternal round.

Hope you enjoy my vid "Two Shoes". Dedicated to my daughters and their mother who also happens to be my wife. Music by Sissel - Sarah's Song.
